On Friday, 18 July 2025, the SAK Arena at the Sportzentrum Mitte hosted an international football highlight: FC Red Bull Salzburg took on historic English club Derby County in their final pre-season match before the Champions League qualifiers. With glorious summer weather, around 800 fans attended and enjoyed an all-round successful evening of football.

Drama until the final whistle

The match delivered 90 exciting minutes of high-quality football. The Red Bulls started off strongly but fell behind after an unfortunate back pass, allowing Corey Blackett-Taylor to score for Derby. Just before the break, Kayden Jackson doubled the visitors’ lead to make it 0–2.

Salzburg fight back

After half-time, Salzburg made nine substitutions, which had an immediate impact. In the 48th minute, Adam Daghim pulled one back following a great assist from Edmund Baidoo. Salzburg continued to push forward, with Baidoo even hitting the crossbar, but a second goal just wouldn’t come.

A highlight for everyone

This friendly encounter between the two clubs was a memorable experience, especially for many young athletes and fans from the Salzburg region. They were treated to top-class football and the chance to see international-level players up close.

Smooth organisation & sporting highlights

Credit for the flawless event management and sporting coordination goes to the teams from ONSIDE SPORTS GmbH, Sportzentrum Mitte, and SAK 1914. A big thank you to all partners involved for their excellent cooperation and support throughout the event.

Match Reports from the Clubs

From July 3 to 12, the Dance World Cup Finals 2025 took place in Burgos, Spain – one of the largest dance events in the world. Among the competitors was Olivia Lienbacher from Bürmoos, representing the Showdance team of TGUS – and she brought home two world championship titles!

Over 8,500 Participants from 51 Countries

The Dance World Cup is considered one of the most prestigious dance competitions globally. More than 50,000 dancers competed in national qualifiers across six continents. Only those who reached a specific score and ranked among the top 5 nationally earned a spot in the finals. In Burgos, over 8,500 qualified dancers from 51 nations competed for world championship titles – making it a true global showcase of dance excellence.

Two Gold Medals – and a Life Dedicated to Dance

Olivia Lienbacher is a student at the Salzburger Sportmodell (SSM) and trains up to 25 hours per week. She has dedicated her life with full passion to dance. In addition to her own performances, she is already stepping into choreography: in 2025, she choreographed a jazz solo for fellow dancer Christina Jurisic, which won 1st place in the B-League at the DanceStar competition.

Olivia’s results at the Dance World Cup Finals 2025 in Burgos speak for themselves:

  • 🥇 1st place in Lyrical Solo Junior 1 – World Champion

  • 🥇 1st place in Jazz Solo Junior 1 – World Champion

  • 🏅 4th place in Contemporary Solo Junior 1

  • 🎭 6th place in Show Stopper Solo Junior 1

A special honor: Olivia was invited to the Grand Final with her lyrical solo – an exclusive performance round for the best of all disciplines starting from Junior 1.

Next Goal: Dance World Cup 2026 in Dublin

After this sensational year, Olivia already has her sights set on the next big goal: the Dance World Cup Finals 2026 in Dublin, Ireland. Her dream: to once again compete at the highest level for Austria and the TGUS Showdance team.

Sportzentrum Mitte congratulates Olivia on this outstanding international success!
